Eco-friendly wedding favours.A guide to what’s out there

Eco Wedding Favors: A Guide to what’s out there and a little different.

Planning a wedding has many small elements. Wedding favours are your way of saying a small thank you to family and friends for celebrating with you.

They allow you to add a little of your personality to your big day. They can be fun and whimsical and share some of your shared values.

With so many options out there, I am sharing a few of my favourites to hopefully give you the inspiration to start looking and finding the perfect wedding favours you and your guests will love!

Eco-friendly and sustainable – what’s not to love?

Plantable wedding favours.

I just love these. When we are all looking to be more conscious of caring for our planet and our children’s future this option has it all. How about beautiful, wild seed, natural cotton waste card stock? Either buy the finished product or buy the plain card stock, design, and print at home. Your guests then simply tear it into small pieces and plant it. When the seeds start to grow it will take them back to your amazing wedding day and what it meant to them. With this option, your favour could also be your place card. Just print their name on it, and add a small message about taking it home and how to use it. Place cards are then one less item to be thrown away at the end of the day, helping with your wedding’s carbon footprint!

Paper seed hearts and wild seed packets are all great ideas. As above add a message to your wedding guests and ask them to plant them.

Seed balls: These are balls of clay and compost that contain seeds inside. They are ideal for guests who don't have a garden, as they can simply toss them into a pot or a patch of soil and watch them grow.

Check out Etsy and Not on the Highstreet for some amazing, handcrafted plantable wedding favours.

Personalized wooden table names

Wooden table names- these are so cute! And different from a bottle or card table name. Check out Mantamakes, based in the New Forest, for a beautiful selection of wooden wedding table decorations and favours.

With many small businesses now having their own laser-cutting machines wooden place names are also becoming popular and easy to order online. How about asking them to add a hole? You could add a small box with a keyring inside and ask guests to attach it afterwards to make their own personalised keyring.

Wedding flavour teas

tea mix in wooden tray

From personalised tea bags to tea in a bottle, as the nation’s favour drink, this one is sure to please and not break the bank. If you are the creative kind, why not make your own? Have fun mixing your own tea blend or buy your favourite. Add them to tins, cardboard pouches, boxes, or packets. This is a nice way to add to your wedding theme. Pinterest has some great ideas so go check them out and have fun adding your own style whilst saving money!

Vintage tea setting

If this one fits your style of wedding it is simple and elegant. Simply tie a wooden heart printed with their name and your wedding date with rustic twine to the handle of a vintage teacup. Alternatively, buy mismatched vintage teacups from charity shops and use them as both a table place name holder and a wedding favour in one. Try to match a couple’s teacup if using this idea so they go home with two matching ones to use and enjoy!

Candles

If you are drawn to natural items then choosing candles made from soy, that are free from palm oil and a wooden wick would be a great option. There are many beautiful, natural fragrances available and most smaller companies offer many different ways to customise them from names, ribbons, tins, boxes and bags Again check out Etsy, Not on the Highstreet and other small producer online to find the perfect one for you.

Shots in a bottle

These come in different shapes and sizes. From miniature shot bottles, whiskey bottles or mini hip flasks they are sure to be popular! Fill them with your favourite champagne, cocktails, beers, shorts or juice for the little ones. Buy them online or buy the bottles and labels and DIY them.

Not forgetting the little ones!

Everyone loves a wedding favour including the children!

How about a personalised, fun-packed activity pack? From small colouring books to packs with games and sweets. You can make these up yourself or again by them online.

Sweet cones, name crayons and bubbles are all fun ideas for children. Just bear in mind their individual ages and make sure each one is age-appropriate. The minimum order on most of these items is low, allowing you to give different favours to different ages.

Hopefully, this short blog has given you a few ideas to start your search for that perfect, small gift your guests will love and not leave on the table!
